NYArt Book Fair

NYArt Book Fair

The NYArt Book Fair that took place at MoMa P.S. 1, November 5-7, 2010, was definitely one of those experiences that I will never forget. Participating in the book fair was an opportunity that I'm fortunate to have experienced first hand. It was great to have such amazing activists and artistic individuals under one roof. The highlight for me was becoming a gorilla, or Guerrilla Girl to be exact! I must say that I don't recall ever getting that much acknowledgement before. Some onlookers were fascinated, amused, weary, some even frightened, when they first glanced at me and my fellow Guerrilla Girls. Either way, we tightly grasped their attention, making it worth their while. We were literally the center of attention, no monkey business! Guests actually took the time to read posters, sign up for the mailing list, and engage in conversation with me and my fellow Guerrilla Girls, which clearly indicated their keen interest in the organization. Several Guerrilla Girl supporters bought merchandise, the patch, pencils, and banana stress reliever being the hot sellers. They were flying off the table.

Not only was the experience fun, but it was informative. It was made very clear, by guests, that the Guerrilla Girls have made a name for themselves. GGBB received significant praise and such critical acclaim. Not only were onlookers interested in the products we were selling, but they were interested in the Guerrilla Girl's mission, which speaks volumes!
